Walking In Newness

Scripture: So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. (Romans 6.11)
MAIN POINT: Because we have been raised with Christ, we are freed to live new lives for God.
Paul’s words are not merely theology—they are meant to change how we live. Because we have been buried with Christ and raised with Him, we are to “consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God.” Sin no longer has dominion over us. We are free.
What does this freedom look like on an ordinary Friday? It looks like doing the next faithful thing—not because we understand everything, but because we trust Christ. It looks like loving our neighbor when it costs us. It looks like forgiving those who wronged us. It looks like opening our Bibles when the words seem dry, and speaking hope to the struggling even when we struggle ourselves.
This is newness of life. Not a life free from difficulty, but a life no longer enslaved to sin and death. Not a life with all the answers, but a life anchored in Christ’s promises. We do not know what tomorrow holds. But we know who holds tomorrow.
Reflection: Walking in newness of life means living each day anchored in Christ’s victory over sin and death. What sin or struggle do you need to consider yourself “dead to” today? How can you live “alive to God” in one specific way this week?
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You have set me free from sin and death. Help me live in that freedom today. When old patterns tempt me, remind me that I am dead to sin and alive to God in You. In Your saving name. Amen.
