The Mystery Revealed

Scripture: “This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.” — Ephesians 3.6
MAIN POINT: The inclusion of all nations in God’s family was always His plan, now revealed in Christ.
Paul speaks of a mystery—something hidden for ages but now revealed. What is this mystery? That Gentiles are included. Fellow heirs. Members of the same body. Partakers of the promise. This was God’s plan all along, but it was hidden, waiting for the right moment to be unveiled.
The Magi’s visit to Bethlehem was an early glimpse of this mystery. Here were Gentiles—outsiders to Israel’s covenant—bowing before Israel’s King. They brought gifts fit for royalty: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. They offered worship that many in Israel itself failed to give. They were, in Paul’s words, “partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.”
This mystery has profound implications for us. We are not afterthoughts in God’s plan. We are not second-class citizens in His kingdom. We are fellow heirs with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We belong to the same body as the apostles and prophets. The promise made to Israel has become our promise too.
Paul writes that this grace was given to him “to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3.8). Unsearchable riches—treasures beyond counting, blessings beyond measure. And they belong to us, who were once far off but have now been brought near.
Reflection: You are a fellow heir with God’s people throughout all ages. How does being included in this ancient promise affect your sense of identity and belonging? What “unsearchable riches” have you experienced in Christ?
PRAYER: Father, thank You for including me in Your eternal plan. I marvel that the mystery hidden for ages has been revealed, and that I am part of it. Help me live as a true heir of Your promises. Through Christ my Lord. Amen.
