One Brings Another

“One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus.” (John 1:40-42a)
MAIN POINT: The simplest and most effective mission strategy is bringing those we know to Jesus.
Andrew’s first act as a follower of Jesus was beautifully simple: he found his brother and brought him to Jesus. No elaborate evangelism program. No special training. Just a brother sharing with his brother what he had discovered. From that one conversation, Peter— whose confession is the rock on which Christ would build His church—entered into relationship with Jesus.
Notice the pattern: the familial and familiar become the places where conversations about Jesus naturally happen. Andrew didn’t go searching for strangers to convert. He went to the person closest to him, the one he already had a relationship with, and said, “Come and see.”
This is the mission field God has given you: the people already in your life. Your family members. Your neighbors. Your friends. Your co-workers. You don’t need to manufacture opportunities or wait for the perfect moment. You simply need to invite: “Would you like to come with me?” Don’t invite them to church (not yet, anyway). Invite them to a dinner theater with you. To Breakfast+Bibles. To the CHOSEN Watch Party. The Spirit does the converting; your job is simply to invite into relationship – with Jesus.
Reflection: Andrew’s approach was remarkably simple—find someone you know and bring them to Jesus. Who in your life needs an invitation? What’s holding you back from extending it? Remember: your job isn’t to convert them; that’s the Spirit’s work. Your job is simply to invite them into a relationship with Jesus.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, give me Andrew’s simple faithfulness. Help me see the people already in my life as the mission field You’ve given me. Give me courage to extend invitations without worrying about the outcome. Your job is to convert; mine is to invite. Make me faithful in this simple calling. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
