Jesus Makes It Personal

August 24, 2025 Day 236

Luke 13.22- 24

Scripture Reading:
“He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. And someone said to him, ‘Lord, will those who are saved be few?’ And he said to them, ‘Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.'” (Luke 13:22-24 ESV)

Main Point: When asked about others’ salvation, Jesus redirects our attention to our own relationship with Him.

It’s human nature to wonder about others—will few be saved? Are most people going to heaven? But Jesus doesn’t entertain this curiosity. Instead of giving statistics about salvation, He makes it intensely personal: “Strive to enter through the narrow door.”

Jesus isn’t interested in satisfying our theological curiosity about others’ eternal destiny. He’s concerned about yours. He’s concerned about mine. When we’re tempted to look around and judge who’s in and who’s out, Jesus calls us back to examine our own hearts, our own faith, our own relationship with Him.

This redirection isn’t meant to create anxiety but to create urgency. The question isn’t whether your neighbor will be saved—the question is whether you are trusting in Christ alone for your salvation. Are you striving to enter through the narrow door, or are you assuming that your good intentions, church attendance, or religious knowledge are enough?

Application: Focus on your own relationship with Christ rather than speculating about others’ salvation. Do you spend more time wondering about others or examining your own heart? What does it mean for you personally to strive to enter through the narrow door?

Prayer:
Help me to examine my own heart and trust fully in Christ alone for my salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
