Luke 17. 14

Healing in the Going

Scripture: “When he saw them he said to them, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’ And as they went they were cleansed.” (Luke 17.14)

Main Point: Jesus often works His healing as we obediently walk forward in faith.

Notice how Jesus healed these ten lepers. He didn’t touch them. He didn’t speak their disease away with a dramatic command. Instead, He gave them a simple instruction: “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And the miracle happened as they went.

Think about what this required. These men had to start walking toward the priests while they were still unclean. They had to obey before they saw results. They had to trust that the Master’s word was enough, even when nothing had changed yet.

This is often how Jesus works in our lives. We want the miracle first, then we’ll obey. But Jesus says, “Start walking. Step out in faith. Trust My word.” Paul understood this when he wrote to Timothy: “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:1). The strengthening comes as we move forward in obedience.

Healing happens in the going. Restoration happens in the walking. Strength comes as we trust the Master’s word and step forward, even when we can’t yet see the outcome.

Reflection: What step of obedience is Jesus calling you to take today, even before you see the results? What keeps you from starting the walk?

Prayer: Master Jesus, give me the faith to obey Your word before I see the results. Help me trust that You are working as I go. In Your Name, Amen.
